The Arab ICT Organization organized the Building Digital Libya” Summit, in cooperation with the General Authority for Communications and Informatics in the State of Libya, during the period from 26 to 28 October 2021 at the Laico Hotel – Tunis in the Republic of Tunisia.
This important event was organized under the high patronage of the League of Arab States and in cooperation with the Ministry of Communication Technologies in the Republic of Tunisia and many regional and international structures active in the field of digital economy. High-level speakers and international experts, in addition to representatives of major international companies working in the field, participated in this important event.
This summit witnessed the attendance of more than 300 participants, with a wide and active participation of high-level delegations and distinguished personalities from several authorities and companies from the public and private sectors in the State of Libya, such as the National Authority for Information Security and Safety, New Generation Company, Al Madar, Libya Trade Network, Libya Telecom Company, Libyana Mobile phone company, Sky-Tech Company for Internet and Information Technology Services, Muamalat Company in addition to the Arab Consensus Bank and the Central Bank of Libya…
This summit, in addition to the main symposium, included an exhibition, and a space to conclude partnerships and agreements with major international companies working in the field of communications technology, which led to the holding of more than 50 B2B meetings.
During the first day of the summit, the exhibition was inaugurated with a wide and active participation of many authorities and institutions working in the field from the public and private sectors.
The main Forum was held during the second day and was opened by HE. Eng. Mohamed ben Amor – Director-General of the Arab ICT Organization, during which he welcomed all the guests and thanked the organization’s partners, the sponsors of the summit for their fruitful collaboration, and all speakers for accepting the invitation to contribute to the enrichment and the success of this important event.
Then the speech was addressed successively by the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Mr. Marwan Al-Abbasi, the Minister of Communication and Information Technologies, Dr. Nizar ben Neji, and the President of the General Authority for Communications and Informatics in the State of Libya, Engineer Salem Abdullah Mohamed Al-Naji.
During the main forum, promising indicators of information technology in the State of Libya and its future prospects were presented, as well as the current legislative environment regulating the sector and the initiatives that are in the process of preparation.
The focus of this forum was properly on the need to present the comprehensive national strategy for e-services, in order to achieve efficient, transparent, and sustainable e-government. The importance of developing a plan and implementing a comprehensive national plan for cybersecurity, updating laws, legislation and procedures to advance the digital economy and e-government, and providing safe and reliable infrastructure for electronic transactions.
