Participation of His Excellency Director-General of the Arab ICT Organization in the (49) Ordinary session of the High Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action chaired by His Excellency Secretary-General of the League of Arab States
HE. Eng. Mohamed ben Amor_ Director-General of the Arab ICT Organization took part in the (49) ordinary session of the High Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action, held under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit through video conference on the 13th of July 2020.
In this regard, it is worthy to note that His Excellency the Secretary-General of the LAS has inaugurated the works of the Committee with a speech in which he stressed on the important role played by the specialized Arab organizations, as Arab expertise houses in all fields that affect the security and safety of the Arab citizen, in countering the difficulties and challenges facing Arab economies and societies as a result of the outbreak of the emerging Corona Virus pandemic.
This meeting has represented an opportunity for specialized Arab organizations and joint Arab action institutions, members of the High Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action, to highlight the procedures, initiatives, and projects implemented in the view to limiting the impact of the Corona pandemic on Arab countries.
During his intervention, HE. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor has showcased the Arab ICT Organization’s vision on how to face the repercussions of the emerging Coronavirus pandemic on Arab economies and societies, and he also presented a brief presentation emphasizing the most important activities implemented by the organization in the framework of its field of work, especially:
• The launching of an online platform “Arab ICT initiatives” which is a special platform for information and awareness to put the light on the digital and technological initiatives and projects adopted by the Arab countries to confront the Corona pandemic.
• The organization of the 1st Arab Webinar on ICT fighting COVID-19 “Arab initiatives and success stories” on 16 June 2020 in cooperation with the Secretariat General of the League of Arab States and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia “ESCWA”.
HE. Eng. Ben Amor, has concluded his speech by giving some highlights about the vision of AICTO regarding the best way to manage the post Covid-19 period at the technological level in the Arab region.
