The Arab ICT Organization held the (20th) session of its General Assembly (extraordinary session) on December 01, 2022, in Tunis- Republic of Tunisia, in parallel with the “Regional Digital Trust Days” which AICTO organized in Tunisia on November 29 and 30 and December 01 December 2022.
This meeting was held with the presence and participation of the following Arab member states: the Republic of Tunisia, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Republic of Sudan, the Republic of Iraq, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Republic of Lebanon, the State of Libya, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Republic of Yemen.
The meeting of the General Assembly was chaired by H. Exc. Eng. Mohamed Mohamed Al-Mubarak Kheir, representative of the President of the current session of the General Assembly _ the Sudanese Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Mr. Adel Hassan Al-Hussein, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister Plenipotentiary Mohamed Kheir Abdelgadir, Director of the Arab Organizations and Federations Department at the League of Arab States, and the President of AICTO’s Executive Council H. Exc. Mr. Amir Khader Al-Bayati – Republic of Iraq and the Director General of AICTO H. Exc. Eng. Mohamed ben Amor.
This meeting dealt with the follow-up to the recommendations and decisions issued by the (31st ) session of the Committee of Organizations for Coordination and Follow-up approved by the Economic and Social Council in its regular session (110), as well as AICTO’s strategic plan for the period 2023-2027, and the Arab Strategy of Cybersecurity which was launched during The activities of the “Regional Digital Trust Days”.
The opening session of the General Assembly was attended by the Director General of the Arab Center for prevention of earthquakes and other natural disasters, and the head of Tunis office of The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD). In addition to ICANN and SAMA Partners Business Solutions GmbH; AICTO’s new partners to introduce their activities and common future projects.
During this meeting, AICTO signed two bilateral MoU respectively with Qatar Assistive Technology Center “Mada” and the International Center for Research, Studies, Documentation, and Training on Disability in Tunisia “Basma” with the aim to enhance joint Arab action in the field of “digital access for All” in order to create the appropriate environment to empower Inclusive access for persons with disabilities.
