A delegation from the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization (AICTO), led by H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General, participated in the Arab Dialogue Roundtable on “Artificial Intelligence in the Arab World: Innovative Applications and Ethical Challenges.” The event was organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, under the patronage and chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. The dialogue took place on February 2–3, 2025, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
During his intervention, H.E. the Director General addressed the role of artificial intelligence in diplomacy and peacekeeping, emphasizing that AI presents a significant opportunity to enhance diplomatic efforts and conflict resolution—provided it is guided by ethical values that prioritize human well-being and digital security. He highlighted the importance of ensuring stability and trust in the digital space, stressing that AI should be developed and deployed responsibly to serve humanity rather than control it.
Furthermore, His Excellency reaffirmed AICTO’s commitment to establishing a unified Arab governance framework for AI ethics, ensuring that AI technologies are aligned with the region’s development goals and digital sovereignty. He underscored that leveraging AI in an ethical and conscious manner can play a crucial role in fostering more just, inclusive, and sustainable societies, where AI remains a tool for progress rather than a source of risk.
His remarks reinforced the need for regional cooperation and strategic policies that balance innovation with ethical responsibility, ensuring that AI serves as a catalyst for positive transformation across the Arab world.
