H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor_ Director General of the Arab ICT Organization participated as a speaker in the work of the First Arab Forum for the Prevention of Earthquake Hazards and Other Natural Disasters, which was organized by the Arab Center for the Prevention of Earthquake Hazards and Other Natural Disasters in Algeria on 05 and 06 June 2023.
During his presentation, he stressed the major role of ICT in managing crises of natural disasters thanks to its ability to provide effective means of communication, data analysis, and coordination of efforts in the case of natural disasters.
He also referred to the efforts of the Arab ICT Organization in strengthening joint Arab action in order to deal with crises and disasters, through the development of a “Cooperation framework in emergency situations” for Arab countries: developing an Arab plan for emergency communications that covers all stages of disaster management within the framework of the Arab Strategy for Reducing Disasters Effects, in addition to the signature of an MoU between the Arab ICT Organization and the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization, and the organization of the first Arab Annual Forum on the role of modern technologies in disaster management and humanitarian work in 2021.
