Within the framework of its will and commitment to promoting interregional cooperation on PKI and digital trust activities, the Arab ICT Organization “AICTO” signed an MoU with ASIA PKI Consortium on August 25th, 2022, at AICTO Headquarters.

This agreement aims to foster harmonized PKI practices to support the development of digital transactions and e-commerce within their respective regions and between them.

The Arab Information and Communication Technology Organization (AICTO) is a specialized Arab governmental organization working under the aegis of the League of Arab States. It aims at developing ICTs throughout the Arab region and providing the necessary mechanisms to support cooperation and complementarity between its members to promote and enrich common policies and strategies to develop vital technological domains. AICTO is working with all stakeholders in the Arab region and other international partners to spread fair and sustainable access to technology and adapt it to serve the goals of economic development and achieve social advancement in the region. AICTO is working with all stakeholders in the Arab and African regions and other specialized organizations all over the world to develop the ICT industry throughout the Arab region through dialogue, experience and expertise sharing and technical knowledge transfer. One of the strategic fields AICTO is focusing on, is digital trust through its regional project : Interregional Digital Trust Network “AAECA-Net” aiming at better interregional collaboration on digital Trust for better trustworthy digital economies based on Laws Harmonization & Digital Trust services Interoperability and Mutual Recognition.

About Asia PKI Consortium: Asia PKI Consortium is an organization setup towards adoption and awareness of PKI / Cryptographic technologies across its member economies, thus working towards securing the electronic transactions by active participation of Regulators, Trust Service Providers, research organizations and technology providers. The objective of the consortium is also to promote interoperability among PKIs in countries/areas in the Asian region and to strengthen digital ecosystem. Setup in the year 2001, the consortium has grown stronger over two decades and includes members from more than 11 countries with government and enterprise participation. The consortium has 3 major working groups including Business and Application working group, Legal & Policy working group, and Technology & Standards working group. These groups work continuously on their defined objectives and bring their works towards benefitting the member countries. The chair & vice chairs of the consortium are elected by its members, and is currently chaired by Mr. Venkatraman Srinivasan (India), along with the Vice Chairs Mr. William Gee (Hong Kong), Mr. Ali Rahbari (Iran) and Dr. Chaichana Mitrpant (Thailand). This governing council holds annual and special meetings including Steering Committees and General Assemblies.
