The Arab ICT Organization “AICTO” organized the international Forum “Digital Inclusion for All (Reality – Challenges – Opportunities)” on the 2nd of December 2021, at “Le Pavillon Gammarth” in Tunis, Republic of Tunisia. This conference comes under the framework of the implementation of its regional project “Developing Digital Access in the Arab Region” and its commitment to coordinating all efforts to achieve an “inclusive digital economy”.
This important event is organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia and in cooperation with the International Center for Studies, Research, Documentation and Training on Disability “Basma”.
The works of the forum were opened by His Excellency Eng. Mohamed ben Amor – Director-General of the Arab ICT Organization, during which he stressed the organization’s endeavor to enhance the role of technology and make it serve people with special needs, and to raise digital access for persons with disabilities, as being one of the human rights guaranteed by the United Nations, this “digital right” supports access to all other human rights such as access to information, education, health, work, … and many other activities easily and without any discrimination.
This forum witnessed wide and active participation of various stakeholders in the digital and technological field and Specialized institutions responsible for the rehabilitation and integration of persons with disabilities from the Arab region and the rest of the world, in addition to many experts in the field in order to contribute to raising the digital inclusion of persons with disabilities within the Arab region, and work to rehabilitate them to be effective elements in society on an equal basis with the rest of citizens.
Several success stories in the field of digital inclusion and e-accessibility from the Arab region and at the international level were presented whether projects, technological solutions, policies, legislation, …
