The Arab ICT Organization participated in the meetings of the 54th session of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action, chaired by His Excellency the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Abu EL-Gheit, hosted by the Arab Federation for Digital Economy in Abu Dhabi from January 24-26, 2022.
35 specialized Arab organizations and about 40 specialized Arab federations working under the umbrella of the joint Arab action system took part in these meetings.
The main discussions focused on the issues of the Arab digital economy, cybersecurity, and Arab food security in light of climate change, in addition to subjects related to the activities of Arab organizations and federations and the role required of them in the next stage.
Among discussed topics, we mention the Arab Strategy of Cybersecurity launched by the Arab ICT Organization during the 2nd Edition of the Arab Cybersecurity Forum organized by AICTO in Tunis on November 29, 2022, where H. E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor the Director General presented a paper on the Arab Strategy of Cybersecurity to highlight the major axes and objectives of the strategy.
At the outset of his speech, H. E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor praised the important role played by the UAE in supporting joint Arab action, expressing his sincere thanks to the government of the United Arab Emirates represented by His Excellency Lieutenant-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Honorary President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy to host these meetings.
The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Abu EL- Gheit, appreciated the outputs of the study carried out by AICTO, and the following recommendation was approved: Presenting thanks to AICTO for preparing the draft Arab Strategy for Cybersecurity and inviting it to complete the appropriate procedures for approval by the Council of Arab ICT Ministers in preparation for its submission to the next Arab summit to consider its adoption
On the sidelines of these meetings, AICTO signed two bilateral MoU with the Arab Federation of Digital Economy and the Arab Internet and Communications Union (ARISPA).
