H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director-General of the Arab ICT Organization (AICTO), participated as a keynote speaker in a panel discussion organized by ESCWA titled “Governance of Artificial Intelligence in the Arab Region: Challenges and Prospects.” The session, hosted by the Digital Government Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, took place on December 15, 2024, in Riyadh.
This event was part of the Global Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2024), hosted by the Kingdom from December 15 to 19, 2024.
During his address, H.E. Eng. Ben Amor presented AICTO’s vision, “More Reliable AI for Digital Leadership and Sovereignty in the Arab Region.” He emphasized that this vision aligns with AICTO’s ambitious strategy: “Building a Smart, Secure, and Sustainable Arab Digital Future.”
H.E. highlighted the critical role of artificial intelligence and smart technologies in enhancing services, improving efficiency across sectors, and delivering advanced and seamless user experiences. He underlined how these innovations drive technological progress and position the Arab region as a leader in the global digital landscape.
He further called for greater Arab and regional collaboration, stressing that effective partnerships in artificial intelligence are essential to addressing shared challenges and bridging technological divides. Such cooperation, he noted, is vital for advancing progress and fostering sustainable development at both regional and international levels.
