H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General of the Arab ICT Organization, participated as a speaker in the ITU Regional Development Forum for Arab Region (RDF-ARB), organized by the ITU Regional Office for the Arab States of the International Telecommunication Union. The forum was held on February 3, 2025, in Amman, under the gracious hospitality of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Jordan.

The forum aims to enhance coordination among member states and key sector stakeholders while addressing regional priorities and pressing issues in ICT development. It serves as a platform for dialogue and cooperation between policymakers, regulators, industry representatives, academia, and regional and international development organizations, supporting the implementation of regional initiatives for Arab countries.

During his intervention in the high-level roundtable on The State of Digital Development and Trends – Challenges and Opportunities in the Arab Region, His Excellency the Director General highlighted the rapid acceleration of digital transformation in the Arab world, emphasizing both the opportunities and challenges facing the region. He underscored the role of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things in advancing key sectors, including smart cities, e-government, smart agriculture, digital healthcare, and digital education, showcasing notable examples in each field.

He also addressed the obstacles hindering digital transformation, including infrastructure gaps, cybersecurity threats, incomplete regulatory frameworks, and the lack of digital skills. He stressed the importance of enhancing regional cooperation and unifying digital policies to overcome these challenges, calling for stronger collaboration between governments, the private sector, and academic institutions to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable digital transformation.

In conclusion, he presented the Arab ICT Organization’s Vision 2030, which aims to establish a comprehensive framework for shaping the future of digital transformation in the Arab region, built on three key pillars:

  1. A Smart Digital Future – fostering innovation and building a competitive digital economy.
  2. A Secure Digital Future – ensuring digital trust and enhancing cybersecurity.
  3. A Sustainable Digital Future – balancing technological progress with sustainability.

His Excellency reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting regional and international efforts to achieve a secure, innovative, and sustainable digital future that meets the aspirations of Arab nations.
