Within the framework of its endeavors and efforts to support and enhance cooperation and joint Arab action, and in order to develop bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest and adapt the ICT sector for the benefit of tourism, the Arab ICT Organization signed on Thursday, February 02, 2023 a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Tourism Organization, at the headquarters of the Arab States Broadcasting Union in Tunis, Republic of Tunisia.
The MoU was signed by the Director General of the Arab ICT Organization, H. E. Eng. Mohamed ben Amor, and the President of the Arab Tourism Organization, H.E Dr. Bandar bin Fahd Al Fuhaid.
The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of His Excellency the Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union, Eng. Abdul Rahim Suleiman and His Excellency the Tunisian Minister of Tourism, Mr. Mohamed Al Moez Belhoucine.
During his speech, His Excellency Eng. Mohamed ben Amor underlined the steady willingness and readiness of AICTO to cooperate and avail all its capacities to support joint Arab action to serve the Arab region’s interests.
He stressed the importance of this memorandum, which will contribute to further developing the tourism sector in the Arab region, especially as it began to emerge from its traditional forms with new and vast opportunities provided by digital technology for developing the tourism sector.
He also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to H.E. Eng. Abdul Rahim Suleiman, Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union, for the warm welcome, generous hospitality, and continuous cooperation with AICTO.
From his side, H. E. Dr. Bandar bin Fahd Al Fuhaid said that the signature of this memorandum confirms the complementarity between the Arab organizations of the joint Arab action within the framework of the League of Arab States, pointing out the agreement previously concluded with the Union of Arab States Broadcasting in the field of media training, and announcing the organization of an Arab Forum for Tourism Media this year in Tunisia, which will be the first of its kind.
During his speech, the Tunisian Minister of Tourism expressed his pleasure at being at the headquarters of the Arab States Broadcasting Union and witnessing the Union’s achievements in Tunisia, especially those related to the tourism sector through the Royal ASBU Hotel in Tunisia and the new project to be completed ASBU Link Center, stressing all the support of the Ministry And the Tunisian state to these projects, for its role in supporting the tourism sector in Tunisia, especially business tourism and conferences.
He also expressed his pleasure about the MoU signature for its role in serving Arab tourism in light of global digital transformations, highlighting the importance of tourism media and the use of modern technology in boosting the Tourism sector.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Bandar bin Fahd Al Fuhaid and Eng. Mohamed ben Amor exchanged memorial trophies.
On the occasion, the Arab Tourism Organization President honored the former Minister of Tourism in Tunisia, Al-Tijani Al-Haddad, for his efforts in supporting the work of the Arab Tourism Organization, and the Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union, Eng. Abdul Rahim Suleiman, in recognition of the important role of the Union in advancing the media sector and supporting joint Arab action.
It’s worth mentioning that this memorandum aims to enhance cooperation to take advantage of the opportunities given by the ICT sector in developing the tourism sector and to provide the best means and practices to improve tourism services to boost economic and social development in the Arab region.
