His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General of the Arab ICT Organization, participated as a speaker in the Fourth Regional Conference “Bridging tomorrow : from Cybersecurity to Cloud Computing”. The event organized by the Arab Union for Internet and Communications took place on June 13, 2024, in Beirut, Lebanon, under the supervision of His Excellency Mr. Najib Mikati, Prime Minister of Lebanon.

In his speech, H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor emphasized the necessity of implementing robust and effective cybersecurity measures in an era defined by rapid digital transformation. He highlighted that cybersecurity acts as a crucial barrier between innovation and potential challenges. Cloud computing represents a paradigm shift by revolutionizing data storage and management, offering businesses unparalleled flexibility and efficiency. However, he underscored that integrating cybersecurity into cloud environments is essential to effectively counter evolving threats.

Eng. Ben Amor also highlighted AICTO’s significant efforts in the cybersecurity domain, noting that both “digital trust” and “cybersecurity” are central to its mission. He introduced the new strategic vision for 2030, “Building a Smart, Secure, and Sustainable Arab Digital Future,” which emphasizes protecting cyberspace, securing data, and maintaining privacy to enhance digital trust.

Additionally, within the same context he referred to the Arab Cybersecurity Strategy developed by AICTO, following the decision of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Beirut in 2019. This strategy aims to address cybersecurity and digital trust challenges in the Arab region by establishing a “safe and integrated Arab society within the global digital economy” and by enhancing the ability of Arab countries to confront cyber threats.

Furthermore Eng. Ben Omar expressed gratitude to the Arab Union for Internet and Telecommunications, led by Dr. Feras Bakour, for their valuable contributions to the Arab Cybersecurity Strategy which was approved by the Arab ICT Ministers’ Council during its 27th session held on January 18, 2024, in Abu Dhabi.

In conclusion, he emphasized AICTO’s belief in the importance of joint Arab action and enhancing regional and Arab cooperation, which are crucial for shaping the digital technological future that all parties aspire to. He noted that by synergizing cybersecurity and cloud computing, we can achieve a safer and smarter world.
