
As part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation in personal data protection and cybersecurity, H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General of the Arab ICT Organization (AICTO), received on March 5, 2025, at the organization’s headquarters in La Marsa, Ms. Denise Mazzolani, Deputy Director of the Regional Office of the Council of Europe in Tunisia, Ms. Mirka Honko, Coordinator of the South V Program, and Ms. Imen Bahri, Director of the Personal Data Protection Project.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between AICTO and the Council of Europe within the framework of the Fifth South and Cyber+ programs. Discussions also covered joint efforts in organizing a regional conference for personal data protection authorities, scheduled for April 15–16, 2025, in Tunis. This event aims to bring together key stakeholders to address challenges in the field and share best practices.
H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor reaffirmed AICTO’s commitment to supporting the Council of Europe’s initiatives in this domain, highlighting the organization’s pivotal role in advancing personal data protection and cybersecurity. He also referred to AICTO’s study, “Protection of Personal Data in the Arab Region in Light of International Standards,” which sheds light on current challenges and global best practices. These efforts align with AICTO’s 2030 vision: “Building a Smart, Secure, and Sustainable Arab Digital Future.”
Ms. Denise Mazzolani, in turn, emphasized the importance of AICTO’s role in this field and expressed her eagerness to strengthen collaboration to achieve shared objectives.
