The Lybian city “Tripoli” was selected to be the Arab Digital Capital for the year 2024, during the work of the (27th ) session of the Council of Arab ICT Ministers, held on January 18, 2024, where the council declared “Tripoli”  the Arab Digital Capital for the year 2024.”

It is noteworthy to highlight the considerable interest and relentless efforts invested by the General Authority for Communications and Informatics in the State of Libya towards advancing the communications and information technology sector. The Authority has meticulously formulated the national strategy for the communications and information technology sector for the years 2023-2027. This strategic initiative aligns with the Authority’s vision, aiming to establish a sustainable and secure digital sector that fosters a connected knowledge society capable of transforming Libya into an international transit center across Africa, while also seamlessly integrating informatics into all facets of the country to catalyze social and economic sustainable development.

Within this framework, the Communications and Informatics Authority will actively incorporate and coordinate numerous regional initiatives in collaboration with the Arab ICT Organization, as the coordinator for the Arab Digital Capital Initiative.
